FAQs

General

What is Cookbook Week?

Cookbook Week is a five-day celebration of culinary storytelling taking place in San Francisco from April 21-25, 2026. We're bringing together acclaimed cookbook authors, chefs, and food writers for collaboration dinners, book talks, baking events, and our marquee theatrical production, Headnotes Live.

Who is Cookbook Week for?

Anyone who loves cookbooks! Whether you're a passionate home cook, a cookbook collector, a food industry professional, or someone who just appreciates a beautiful book, Cookbook Week has something for you.

Where do events take place?

Events happen at venues across San Francisco, including the Presidio Theater (in the Presidio), Omnivore Books, Mister Jiu's, Foreign Cinema, Rich Table, Che Fico, Farming Hope, Kantine, Graffeo Coffee Roasting Co., and The Civic Kitchen.

Do I need to buy tickets for all events or can I attend individual ones?

All events are ticketed separately, so you can attend as many or as few as you'd like. Some events (like the book talks at Omnivore Books) are free, while others require ticket purchase.

Events

Will authors be signing books at events?

Yes! Authors will be available for book signings at most events. Our bookselling partner, Omnivore Books, will have books available for purchase at Headnotes Live, the book talks, and select other events. Doors of the Presido Theater open 90 minutes before showtime on 4/24 so come by early to buy books, meet the authors, and have them signed (plus you can do it all with some wine from our wine sponsors)

Are events family-friendly?

Headnotes Live will definitely contain some content that is best suited for adults. Parents should use their best judgement in bringing younger kids to these events.

Will there be food at Headnotes Live?

Guests over 21 can enjoy tastings from beverage sponsors before the show begins but no food will be served

How long is Headnotes Live?

Approximately 2 hours with no intermission.

Can I take photos or video during events?

Personal photos are welcome at most events, but please be respectful of performers and other guests. Flash photography and video recording are not permitted during Headnotes Live.

Food & Dietary

I have dietary restrictions. Can events accommodate me?

For collaboration dinners, please note dietary restrictions when purchasing tickets or contact the restaurant directly.
